This list of organizations - compiled by our Community Ministries Team - describes some of the ways that City Pres members are being equipped and mobilized to serve our city, nation, and world. One Family, One Congregation (Denver Rescue Mission)

Description: In partnership with the Mayor's Plan to End Homelessness. This ministry has a congregation sponsor
and mentor one family transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Teams of 2-7 people attend a training session
offered by the Denver Rescue Mission, then are assigned a family to meet with every three weeks. A curriculum is
provided, which covers a variety of skills and needs.
Ministry Opportunities: Gather a small group of people together who will commit to mentoring a family for 6-7 months.

compassionate world outreach, Confluence Ministries desires to see God glorified and lives changed by
facilitating training and hands-on experience.
Ministry Opportunities: Volunteers are needed for various events and activities and administrative tasks in their office.

Street’s Hope

Description: Street's Hope is a faith-based, non-profit organization created to assist women desiring to
leave sexually oriented businesses, including strip clubs, prostitution and the pornography industry. The
goal of Street's Hope is to encourage each woman to become balanced physically, mentally, emotionally and
spiritually; to be self-supportive and an active part of a healthy community.
Ministry Opportunities: Women volunteers are needed to mentor participants as well as assist mentors
(training is provided and mentors can set their own level of participation). Volunteers, male or female,
are also needed to help run the annual fundraising event held in late April. Financial donations as well
as donations of clothing, furniture, and bibles, prayer support and transportation help are also needed.

Christ’s Body Ministries

Description: Christ Body Ministries currently serves meals, provides clothing and fosters a relationship
with hurting people in the name of Christ. Once their remodel is done, they will be able to provide showers
and professional respite care for up to 5-6 people, in partnership with the Mayor’s Plan to End Homelessness.
Ministry Opportunities: There are short term opportunities to serve on Sunday nights that involve cooking and
serving a meal for about 150 people.

Habitat for Humanity

Description: Habitat is locally based and we are currently building over 30 houses per year in the Metro area.
The program is a home ownership program wherein low income families buy our homes once they are completed at 0%
interest for the life of the loan. Habitat serves a broad range of individuals and families including may refugees
and immigrants as well as locals who have struggled financially their whole lives here in the area.
Ministry Opportunities:
1) Work days on a construction site. The days are well supervised and no prior knowledge of construction is needed
(nor are any personal tools). Volunteer days are Wed. – Sat. on most builds and range in locations from North Denver
to South Aurora.
2) There are volunteer opportunities in the offices helping with everything from accounting to janitorial services.
There are also have a number of volunteer based committees for family selections, family support (a more long-term
commitment), and land acquisition (to name a few).
3) Finally, Habitat is looking for group for our adopt-a-day sponsorships where a group/organization gathers something
like $2500 to sponsor a day and provide the day’s volunteers for one construction site. This is a great way to involve
a group and ensure that your money will all be allocated to work on the same site on the same day (many times our days
fill fast given our online registration procedures).

Alternatives Pregnancy Center

Description: Alternatives Pregnancy Center exists to care for Denver area women facing
pregnancy-related crisis, providing them with information to make informed decisions. Following
the example of Christian love, they seek to meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of
women through informal counseling.
Ministry Opportunities: Volunteer office counselors and helpline staff are needed to talk with
women (training is provided for both opportunities and a one-year commitment is asked). Other
volunteer opportunities include being part of a prayer chain, help with fundraising, or hosting
an Alternatives tea and desert so that friends and others can learn about this ministry.

K-Life

Description: K-Life is a community-wide, interdenominational Christian ministry dedicated to the spiritual
development of youth and their families. K-Life holds separate large group "club" meetings for junior and senior
high schoolers (Mon. and Tues. nights) as well as "small groups" for each grade, split up between guys and girls.

Save Our Youth

Description: Save Our Youth transforms the lives of at-risk youth through mentor relationships providing
the skills for success in educational, emotional, and spiritual development.
Ministry Opportunities: Mentor an at-risk youth (training is provided). Help out with the June Graduation
Celebration, August Back-to-School Night, or December Christtmas Party annual events - volunteers can develop an invitation, plan
the food, or help out with on-site activities like crafts, picture taking, etc... Please contact Save Our Youth one month
in advance of the event, should you desire to participate.

Campus Crusade for Christ

Description: Campus Crusade for Christ is a worldwide ministry committed to bringing the message of
Christ to all people. They seek to share the Gospel with local college students, to build up Christians in their faith, and to send
them into the world to have an impact for Christ wherever they go.
Ministry Opportunities: Adopt a Campus: serve college students by feeding them, praying for them, doing
ministry with them, or providing areas of professional expertise. Help launch a new campus ministry: we
are always looking to expand God's Kingdom on campuses where there is currently not a voice for Christ.
There are also opportunities to mentor/disciple students and to speak in various forums.

Ministry Opportunities: Getting involved with a Book Salon, writers group, art and design group, a Cinema
group, or periodic service projects - these groups meet weekly, monthly and quarterly.

Butterfly Hope

Description: Butterfly Hope is an educational enrichment program that provides high quality
experiences for children to explore and develop an appreciation of the natural world and express their
individual creativity in a caring and supportive environment. The program targets low income elementary
school children in Denver.
Ministry Opportunities: Volunteers are needed to work with children during the Butterfly Hope program
sessions, which take place in the mornings from 8am – 12pm. Opportunities also are available for groups
and individuals to help with the maintenance of the gardens and there is a need for Spanish and
Vietnamese translators to help translate forms and announcements.

Whiz Kids Tutoring

Description: Whiz kids Tutoring is a non-profit organization that pairs kids with adults who tutor and
mentor them in the spirit of Christ. They have both an elementary school program, called Whiz Kids, and
a middle school program, called Whiz Kids 2.
Ministry Opportunities: Volunteers are need as tutors/mentors to work with either an elementary or middle
school-aged student. Volunteers meet once a week with their student at a specific tutoring site and each
site meets at different day and time of the week so that each tutor can choose a site and time that fits their schedule.

Christian Children's Fund

Description: Christian Children's Fund understands that poverty is a complex problem, and has more than 65 years of
experience in identifying and addressing the root causes of poverty. Within the context of alleviating child poverty, vulnerability
and deprivation, CCF creates programs in a variety of different areas that provide practical assistance to impoverished communities
and plant the seeds of self-sufficiency.
Ministry Opportunities: Sponsor a child. For $24 a month, you can give a child access to healthy food, safe water and an
education. And, when you sponsor a child, CCF uses your monthly sponsorship donations, combined with donations from sponsors of other
children in your child's community, to support community-wide programs and facilities. As a sponsor, you can build a personal, one-to-one
relationship with your sponsored child through letters, and learn about his or her family, community, daily life and hopes for the future.
Regular health and progress reports will show you how your sponsorship is improving the child's life.

Description: Professionals to the World partners with Renewal Ministry in San Pedro Sula, Honduras (and other Central
American Cities). Renewal Ministry works with university students there, providing student orientation, study and career
counseling, professional development seminars and spiritual development. Professionals to the World supports this ministry by
sending professionals on short trips to universities in Honduras and Costa Rica to conduct seminars on their professional work and
to share the gospel, and also by providing financial support to the staff and ministry there.
Ministry Opportunities: Offer your expertise and encouragement by taking part in a short-term mission trip.

Women for Women International

Description: Helps women in war-torn regions rebuild their lives by providing financial and
emotional support, job skills training, rights awareness and leadership education and access to business
skills, capital, and markets. Through the program women become confident, independent, and productive as they
embrace the importance of their roles in rebuilding their families, their communities, and ultimately their nations.
Ministry Opportunities: Us the website or sign up for email updates to educate yourself about injustice, poverty, war and hope
in other parts of the world. For $27 per month, you can sponsor a particular woman through a program that will provide counseling
, food, and job training for her. You also have the option of corresponding with the woman that you sponsor.
